Sledgehammer Games and Activision just confirmed that they are working on Call of Duty 2014. Activision CEO has announced that Activision is transitioning into a 3 year development cycle for Call of Duty franchise to allow for better game development and DLC for other games.
What follows is the statement from Sledgehammer Games:
Five years ago, we started on the most exciting journey of our careers. Sledgehammer Games was built around a singular goal – to create world-class interactive entertainment that entertains millions of fans around the world. We have a passion for creating games and a team dedicated to achieving excellence in everything that we do.
Having the honor of developing the new, next generation of Call of Duty is a developer’s dream come true. All of us here at Sledgehammer Games have a shared vision to create the best work of our lives. The next Call of Duty represents a new era for this amazing franchise, and we look forward to sharing what we have been working on.
Today is just the beginning, there is so much more to come!
It seems as if the names for the next set of DLC maps has already been leaked if you believe the Xbox One screenshot above. The screenshot clearly shows the maps “Battery, Red River, Rumble and Dome.” It’s unclear if these are completed yet and they don’t seem to be in a playable stage. It is, however, very interesting to already know the names of the next DLC map packs if this indeed turns out to be true.

THE FIVE FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS OF THE LAST CONSOLE GENERATION THAT YOU MUST PLAY
The following (in no particular order) is a list of THE first person shooters that fans should have played this last console gen. If you haven’t played these games you NEED to go out immediately and buy them.. or not. But really you should.
Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2
2013 saw some great first person shooters but alas is coming to an end. So it’s time that we reflect on, and vote on, what was the best first person shooter of 2013. We @ FYFPS have done some of the heavy lifting and narrowed down the list to five. You, the wonderful followers of FYFPS, are tasked with picking the best. Answering is enabled below for your vote. The choices are as follows: Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Metro Last Light, CoDGhosts or Battlefield 4. ?
Rumor making the rounds on both Reddit and 4chan is that a greatest hits version of Call of Duty Zombies will be making its way to last gen consoles, specifically Xbox 360 and PS3, sometime during 2014. At this point nothing is confirmed or denied by Activision or Treyarch. Some thing to get ones hopes up about just to be smashed I assume.
Call of Duty Ghosts is failing to meet expectations and continues to show a sharp decline over previous Call of Duty games. Activision has stated that sales for Ghosts were expected to be down in comparison to Black Ops II due to the uncertainty customers face during this hardware transition period, but the decline is still continuing even after the launch of next-gen platforms.
“We don’t think it is out of the question that the title could wind up comparing down 20 percent to 25 percent year-over-year (Black Ops 2), which is appreciably worse than the down 10 to 15 percent that we think is baked into guidance,” said analyst Craig Creutz.
In comparison, Call of Duty: Ghosts sales are down 19% when compared to last year’s Black Ops II. Comparing sales figures to Modern Warfare 3 shows an even sharper decline, with Ghosts sales being down 36%.
Is this a sign of things to come for Infinity Ward and the Call of Duty franchise?
